Guests and groom Yakir Ashbal are expected to be indicted for incitement and illegal possession of arms after being documented 'celebrating' the Duma murders.
At least 10 people who participated in the "wedding of hate," including the groom, are expected to face charges in the case, Ynet learned on Monday evening. Videos filmed at the Jerusalem wedding of Yakir and Ronny Ashbal in December show guests dancing while brandishing firearms and Molotov cocktails, and mocking the murder of Palestinian baby Ali Dawabshe - who was burned to death along with his parents in an arson attack at his home in Duma - by stabbing a photo of his with a knife and trying to set it on fire. |
Police's Judea and Samaria District's Nationalistic Crimes Unit conducted the investigation into the wedding. The investigative material has already been transferred to the State Attorney and returned to police for final additions.
Among those who are expected to be indicted are also minors, who are facing charges of indictement and illegal possession of arms.
The groom, Yakir Ashbal, was interrogated shortly after images and videos from the wedding were released to the press. He was arrested and released several days later. Other youth and radical right wing activists were also arrested. All of them were released after a few days.
In addition, some of the wedding guests were hilltop youth who were breaking a court order barring them from meeting with other hilltop youth who were present.
Footage from the wedding led to outrage on both the left and right wing. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "The shocking pictures that were broadcast this evening show the true face of a group that constitutes a danger to Israeli society and to the security of Israel. We are not prepared to accept people who deny the laws of the state and do not view themselves as subject to them. The pictures underscore how important a strong Shin Bet is to the security of us all."
Opposition leader Isaac Herzog called the wedding guests: "Crazy, wretched people. You forgot what it means to be Jewish. You are disgracing the kippah, the talit and God. Those who dance at a wedding and celebrate the murder of a baby in his sleep are not Jews nor are they Israelis. They need to be locked behind bars, as soon as possible."
Attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir, who represents some of the suspects and was at the wedding himself, said in response to the intention to press charges: "It turns out that the State Attorney has a lot of free time, and the waving of a photo gets precedence over cases of murder, rape and drugs. So be it, but I'd suggest the State Attorney started by filing indictment against guests at weddings in Umm al-Fahm and Arara, where in many of the weddings there are shootings and cursing the State of Israel and incitement to murder Jews."

It is confirmed: Football Federation President Gen. Jibril Rajoub said in a press release this Saturday morning that the Spanish club Real Madrid will receive the Palestinian child Ahmed Dawabsheh on March 17.
Rajoub said that the Spanish club, in coordination with the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Spain, will receive the child Dawabsheh and two of his family members, as well as a member of Real Madrid Association in Palestine on March 17.
He stressed that the club management has rapidly sympathized with Ahmad Dawabsheh situation/reality, following the spread of pictures of the child, dressed in the club’s shirt, while receiving treatment in the hospital.
Ahmad is the only member of the Dawabsheh family who survived the Israeli terrorist arson attack on his home in Duma near Nablus, northern West Bank, which killed his 11-month-old brother, Ali, and both his parents, July last year.
Ahmad is still recovering from third-level burns in the hospital.

Israeli extremist settlers insulted the Palestinian Dawabsheh family on Wednesday during a trial of Israeli suspects involved in last July's terrorist firebombing in Duma, which killed an 18-month-old and his parents.
The trial of two suspects in the Dawabsheh family murders, which indictments say was an incident of Jewish terrorism, began Wednesday at the Lod District Court, in 1948 Occupied Palestine.
Bitter confrontations erupted in court between supporters of the victims and those of the suspects as tensions boiled over.
Court security guards prevented a skirmish between the two parties and removed two Dawabsheh family supporters.
The case, which involves the arson fire that killed 18-month-old Ali Dawabsheh and fatally wounded his parents as they slept in their home, has drawn widespread condemnation of the primary suspect Amiram Uliel and two others collaborating with him in this heinous crime.
Dawabsheh's family told reporters outside the courtroom that they do not believe in the justice of the Israeli courts. The hearing on Wednesday morning took place behind closed doors, like the other hearings in the case.
The indictment included planning for and committing a murder in order to spark further tensions between the Palestinians and the Israelis in addition to mobilizing membership in terrorist organizations.

One user commented: “You spelled ‘OCCUPIED PALESTINE’ kinda weird there.”
Another one wrote on Youtube: “I love Ronaldo but when I seen [sic] this video now I hate him.”
“You’re just on the wrong side of history… You’re so deceptive… The oppressed children of Gaza and Palestine will never forgive you for having sold your soul to Israel apartheid. What a disgrace,” read one comment underneath Ronaldo’s Facebook post.
Many others responded on Twitter with the hashtag #freepalestine. The tweet soon became a battleground between Israeli supporters and pro-Palestine ones, according to the PNN.
On the other side, Ronaldo was praised by Israelis and Israel’s supporters.
One user wrote: “It’s the country that provides medical treatment to the poor #syrian people and the only democracy in the #MiddleEast” as well as more aggressive ones like “to all the mohameds and ahmeds out there.. GET A LIFE! Involving politics and evil with football sucks.”
The new commercial for Israeli internet company HOT sees the 31-year-old Portuguese player alongside three Israeli comedians.
In the ad, the three Israelis praise the speed at which they can watch Ronaldo playing by using HOT’s 200MB cable connection when they are approached by Ronaldo himself.
Ronaldo’s announcement garnered over 2,400 re-tweets and over 6,400 likes within the first 22 hours, as of Thursday.
The video itself had more than 130,000 views in just three days but has a 2:1 ratio of likes to dislikes because of the controversy surrounding Ronaldo’s appearance on it.

The orphaned survivor of a fatal arson attack on a Palestinian family will learn, this week, the fate of his family, five months after the attack.
Five-year-old Ahmad Dawabsha lost his 18-month-old brother Ali and both of his parents when their home in the occupied West Bank village of Douma was attacked by Israeli settlers in July.
"We want this week to tell him what happened to his family. The psychiatrist will be with him in the hospital [when we tell him the story]," Ahmad's uncle, Nasser Dawabsha, said according to World Bulletin/Al Ray.
He said that the grandparents, uncles and aunties who have remained at Ahmad's bedside since the settler attack, which left him with burns on 60 percent of his body, will all give him the news of how his family was killed.
Nasser Dawabsha said he and the doctors believed they had to tell Ahmad the full story, after avoiding the topic as the boy went through several months of treatment. He added that he believed Ahmad might not fully understand the impact of the loss because of his young age.
In December, Ahmad's grandfather, Hussein Dawabsha, said that telling Ahmad about the deaths of his parents and brother would be "the hardest day ever."
He added that Ahmad, who is currently going through rehabilitation to regain use of his legs, will remain in hospital for at least three more months.

US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro leveled fierce criticism at Israel during a speech at a security conference, accusing it of adhering to 'two standards of law' in the West Bank.
US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro directed harsh criticism at Israel during a speech he gave at an Institute for National Security Studies conference in Tel Aviv on Monday.
In the aftermath of two terror attacks in as many days, Shapiro attacked Israel's policy towards the settlements and claimed that "too much vigilantism goes unchecked."
Shapiro said that the US is concerned by the ongoing building in the settlements and also criticized the Israeli authorities' investigation into Jewish terrorism in the West Bank.
"At times there seem to be two standards of adherence to the rule of law (in the West Bank): one for Israelis and another for Palestinians," Shapiro said. Nonetheless, he also noted that "the indictments in the Duma murders are an important demonstration of Israel’s commitment to prosecute acts of terror."
Shapiro began his speech by addressing the current wave of terror. "Like so many Israelis, I have had to attend funerals, made shiva calls, and paid visits to hospitals.
"Like all Israelis, I have worried about friends and neighbors, colleagues and family members, against the backdrop of this latest wave of terrorism. Among the victims have been American citizens," Shapiro said.
"Yesterday, a young mother of six, Dafna Meir, may her memory be blessed, was brutally murdered in her home as she fought to protect her children from a Palestinian terrorist armed with a knife.
"And today, a young pregnant woman was viciously stabbed and badly wounded by another terrorist," Shapiro continued.
"The United States condemns unequivocally these barbaric acts of terrorism…We offer support and sympathy to the bereaved families and the wounded…and we are committed to do everything we can, and call on all others to do everything they can, to bring an end to the violence and help restore security and stability," he added.
Shapiro, who followed IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot's speech, also addressed the lifting of sanctions against Iran. "While the US and Israeli governments differed on the approach in this agreement, our objectives were – and remain – the same: to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. To us, that is part and parcel of our commitment to Israel’s security.
"Two-thirds of Iran’s 19,000 centrifuges, including the disconnection of every single nuclear enrichment centrifuge at the Fordow facility, have been removed," Shapiro continued. "Iran’s 'breakout' time has now been extended significantly, from two-to-three months, to well over a year."
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office stated that "the ambassador's words, on a day when a mother of six is buried and a day when a pregnant woman is stabbed, are unacceptable and incorrect. Israel enforces the law against Israelis and against Palestinians. It is the Palestinian Authority who is responsible for the political deadlock and which continues to incite and refuses to negotiate.

Palestinian-American businessman Farouk Shami said Wednesday that he was arranging for four-year-old Ahmad Dawabsha, the sole survivor of a deadly settler attack on his family home last year, to fulfill his dream of meeting football star Christiano Ronaldo.
Al-Shami told Raya News Agency that it was his "national duty" and the least he could do. He said his office would begin preparations for the boy's trip to Madrid on Thursday.
Shami said he would also be visiting Dawabsha in the hospital where he is still being treated for wounds he received during the arson attack.
The Real Madrid football club had earlier announced that they would be receiving the four-year-old, following a request from the club's official fan base in the occupied Palestinian territory.
Ahmad Dawabshi was the sole survivor of a deadly arson attack carried out by Jewish extremists on his family home on July 30 last year. The child lost both his parents, Saad and Riham, as well as his 18-month-old brother, Ali.
Earlier this month, two Israelis, Amiram Ben-Uliel and one Israeli minor, were handed murder charges for the attack. The Israeli authorities faced repeated criticism for their slow work on the case.
Shami is the founder and chair of Farouk Systems based in Houston in the United States.

Israel decided to use torture against it’s own, as the internal intelligence service, last year, struggled with the uncovering of a murder case against the Palestinian baby Ali Dawabsha and his parents, Riham and Saad. They were killed on July 31, last year, in their home, in the village of Douma, when Israeli settlers threw a Molotov cocktail into the house.
Excerpts of the fundamentalists’ plan
According to the PNN, the case has evolved from not only a cold-blooded murder, but also the unveiling of a political scandal. Behind the murder of the young family was a network of illegal Jewish settlers with a fundamentalist plan to get Israel to collapse in favor of a new messianic kingdom of Israel where the occupied Palestinian areas are today.
“Initially would all Arabs and non-Jews be warned that they were to leave the country. In the second phase, the plan was immediately to kill all who refuse to leave the country, including women and children.”
Interrogations have, according to Israeli journalist Ben Caspit, led to the unveiling of a Jewish underground network which upholds the sensational goal of evoking a political and violent chaos that was to cause Israel to collapse, and with the right to expel or kill Christians, Muslim and other non-Jewish citizens ("goyim").
Caspit has, in the magazine al-Monitor, described how the underground network would promote its fundamentalist revolt by killing Arabs.
Reportedly, the expectation was to pit the Arab world and the international community against Israel, undermine the authority of the central government and create chaos that would lead to a revolt. Then, during the revolt, the reins of government would be placed in the hands of those believing in the supremacy of the Torah over democracy.
The murder of the Dawabsha family was not the network’s first act of violence. The intelligence service was already on the trail of Jewish fundamentalists who previously had put churches and mosques on fire in the West Bank.
But, according to Israeli press, the murder and the heavy-handed interrogation of the Israelis led to the unveiling of the plan to get Israel to collapse.
The case has attracted attention in Israel. The Jewish underground network that threatened Israel from within has, according to Caspit, been covered by 30-40 activists who have carried out terror against Palestinians.
In addition, another group of about 100 young settlers have supported acts of terrorism and even been part of the fundamentalist network, residents of various illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.
According to the Israeli commentator, further several hundred, and “perhaps several thousand ‘, have supported the network’s idea to seek that Israel be replaced by a Judaic kingdom.
Controversial use of torture
Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein gave, according to the newspaper Ha’aretz and other Israeli newspapers, a green light for the internal security service Shin Bet to make use of torture.
Defense lawyers of the three Jewish Israeli youth who were arrested and charged with the murders, according to forward.com, complained that their clients were blindfolded, deprived of sleep and beaten as part of the interrogation.
Education Minister Naftali Bennett, considered the settlers’ chief spokesman of the government, defended the police:
“Those like we, who support the Shin Bet’s actions against Palestinian terrorism to save Jewish lives, cannot resist (these actions, ed.), when applied against Jewish terrorism,” said Bennett, according to the Times of Israel.
The Israeli human rights movement B’Tselem, which often criticizes the mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody, has also complained in this case:
“People during interrogation must, under no circumstances, be subjected to maltreatment and torture,” said B’Tselem.
According to Caspit, the security services reckon that the incident in Douma was one of the formative causes for the eruption of the Palestinian revolt wave that broke out in October.
“The perception, that Israel hurries to solve Arab acts of ‘terror’ but is not capable of subduing Jewish terror, aroused much agitation among the Palestinians and, also, internal criticism in Israel.”
