Senior Hamas leader Dr. Salah al-Bardawil said negotiations over prisoner swap deals with the Israeli occupation are not necessarily dependent on the truce accord. Bardawil told Quds Press a new round of indirect talks between Palestinians and the Israeli occupation is expected to be held in Cairo after the end of the Eid to deliberate over the establishment of Gaza’s seaport, airport and the prisoners’ affairs.
“An agenda for the indirect talks with the Israeli occupation has been tabled to negotiate the airport, seaport, and prisoner files,” he stated.
In another context, Bardawil said, “the Fatah-Hamas reconciliation accord has been operating according to what was agreed upon in Cairo.”
“We are expecting a cabinet meeting to be held in Gaza, as PM Hamdallah already promised,” he added.
“Roughly speaking, we, in Hamas Movement, are committed to the implementation of all what has been agreed upon and to healing the rift once and for all,” Bardawil vowed.

An Israeli Special Force raided Palestinian prisoners’ rooms in Eshel prison in Beersheba on Friday night, human rights sources revealed on Saturday. The Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies said in a statement that Israeli forces brutally stormed a number of prisoners’ rooms and forced the prisoners out of their cells handcuffed for long hours.
The center stated that the night raid was deliberately carried out against the 73 detainees who were released during Wafa al-Ahrar swap deal and re-arrested recently in violation of the deal.
The center said that administrative detainees’ number has notably increased in Israeli jails during the past three weeks.
540 administrative detainees are currently held in Israeli jails, the center confirmed.

Senior Hamas official Mushir Al-Masri said another prisoner swap deal to free Palestinian prisoners could be brokered with the Israeli occupation. During a festival held in Gaza on Friday, Masri stated that the indirect talks in Cairo with Israel would lead to swapping Israeli soldiers captured during the last war with a large number of Palestinian prisoners.
The Hamas official stressed that the Palestinian resistance in Gaza would always remain loyal to the blood of the martyrs and the steadfastness of the prisoners.
He said that his Movement would go on with the indirect talks with Israel in order to extract the Palestinian people's right to live in freedom and dignity, asserting that his Movement and other factions have "trump cards" that would force the occupation to yield to the Palestinian demands.

Palestinian prisoners rearrested this year, after being released in the 2011 Shalit swap deal, have announced that they would go on hunger strike this Tuesday, in order to pressure the Palestinian delegation in Cairo to negotiate with Israel for their release.
According to Ma'an, the Ramallah-based Palestinian Prisoners' Society said, Monday, that the strike will be observed by 63 prisoners who were among the group freed by Israel under the terms of a 2011 arrangement.
1,027 Palestinian prisoners were released under this Egyptian-brokered deal between Hamas and the Israeli government, for the return of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli sports columnist and a former Israeli soldier.
PPS head, Qaddura Fares, called on the delegation to "hold onto the principle of releasing these prisoners especially since they have begun considering an open hunger strike in protest of their rearrest."
The strike is meant to coincide with the resumption of indirect truce talks in Cairo, aimed at following up on the terms of a ceasefire deal which went into effect on August 26, ending 50 days of devastating conflict within the coastal region.
Israeli and Palestinian negotiators had both agreed to resume talks within a month of that date to discuss the terms, including the possibility of a new swap arrangement, though Israel has been reluctant to return to the negotiating table.
Negotiations are not expected to last more than a day, as the Jewish New Year holiday begins at sundown on Wednesday, according to M'an, and it is not clear how long the planned hunger strike will last.
More than 7,000 Palestinians are currently being held in Israeli jails.

An international campaign, calling for releasing 73 ex-detainees of Shalit prisoner swap deal, is set to be launched today, at the meeting of Human Rights Council of the United Nations.
The ex-detainees were re-arrested recently in Israeli prisons, according to Issa Qaraqe, the chief of detainees affairs said.
Al Ray reports that Qaraqe recently announced the campaign during his visit to the family of the ex-detainee Nael Barghouti, who was re-arrested after serving 35 years in Israeli jails.
Mr. Qarage explained that both international and Palestinian human rights organizations will participate in the campaign, which aims to protest the illegal and unjust acts of the Israeli government against the previously released detainees.
"Israel seeks political revenge on the Palestinian people by re-arresting ex-detainees and violating all international norms and conventions," he said.
The detainees are now threatening to declare a hunger strike in protest of their re-arrest, calling on international bodies to work for their release.
Al Ray further reports that issues of ex-detainees are to be discussed during indirect talks between Palestinians and Israelis in Egypt, scheduled for next week under the umbrella of an open-ended truce.

Palestinian detainee and iconic former hunger striker Samer al-Issawi is in deteriorating condition, his family said following a visit with him.
According to Ma'an News Agency, activist Badie Dweik said that al-Issawi was visited by his family at Jalbou prison, where they noticed he was feeble and with a pale face, that he seemed fatigued, and suffered a noticeable loss of weight.
Samer reportedly complained about pain in his kidneys and having difficulties in eating.
Mr. Dweik also said that Israeli authorities had prevented Issawi’s lawyer from visiting him since late June.
Samer served 10 years in Israeli jails and became an internationally recognized icon for the prioners' movement after spending 9 months on hunger strike last year.
Samer was released, along with 1027 Palestinian prisoners, as a result of an Egypt-brokered deal between Hamas and the Israeli government for the return of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli sports columnist and a former Israeli soldier.
In July of 2012, however, Samer was re-arrested for violating the terms of his release when he left Jerusalem into the West Bank.
Convicted for 8 months, to possibly include a reinstatement of the rest of his original 26 year sentence, al-Issawi began a hunger strike in August, 2012.
In April of last year, when a deal was finally reached where he was to serve 8 months for violating his bail, and then be released to Jerusalem, Samer announced the end of his strike.
Samer's sister Shireen was arrested with their brothers Medhat and Shadi, in March. They were not charged, but Israel has refused to release any details about their arrest, in line with behavior typical of the Administrative Detention policy.
In January of 2013, brother Ahmad al-Issawi’s home was bulldozed.

Around 61 Palestinian ex-detainees are currently held in Israeli jails after being re-arrested by Israeli forces in violation of Wafa al-Ahrar Swap Deal in 2011, Ahrar Center for Prisoners Studies said. Head of the center Fuad al-Khuffash renewed his call on the Palestinian negotiating team in Cairo to impose the ex-detainees’ release in any expected ceasefire agreement especially in light of Israeli attempts to re-impose their previous sentences.
There is no legal basis for their re-arrest, he said, warning of Israeli attempts to re-sentence them to serve previous prison terms under flimsy pretexts.
Their release must be included in any agreement that should also guarantee that their previous prison terms would not be re-imposed, al-Khuffash added.
